A BOY SUICIDED AT NIT WARANGAL

Disappointed by a poor performance in semester examination, Machireddy Chaitanya Kumar Reddy, 19, a first year ECE student of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), committed suicide at his NIT hostel room in Warangal on 17th March,2010. The student was a native of RBN Colony, Madanapalli, in Chittoor district.

Two other roommates of Chaitanya, who lived in Baba Hall in the 4th Block at NIT campus, grew suspicious after Chaitanya did not venture out of the room till Wednesday evening.

When NIT authorities broke open the door, his body was found hanging from a ceiling fan. He had used a bedsheet to hang himself. It is suspected that Chaitanya might have actually killed himself on Tuesday night as his two roommates, who had returned after a short Ugadi vacation, found their room locked from inside.

Having found the room locked even on Wednesday morning, Chaitanya’s roommates, who had slept in other rooms, left to attend their classes at 8.00 am. They returned in the evening to find the door locked yet again.

Chaitanya used to be an introvert, and had few friends.

The parents of the boy are in deep shock as with what hope they sent their beloved one to NIT Warangal and its much more difficult to light the body of the son by hands his father.

This is not the right way to loose hope in life and takes such serious steps.
